Fearless Organization Scan (FOS) Certification

High functioning teams, innovation and agility all start with psychological safety

Fearless Organization Scan (FOS) Certification

Over 20 years of research at Harvard University demonstrates that teams and organizations with higher levels of psychological safety perform better on almost any metric or KPI in comparison to teams and organizations that have low psychological safety.

Based on Professor Amy Edmondson’s research, the Fearless Organization Scan (FOS) measures psychological safety at both an individual and team level and can scale to any size. This program will enable you to facilitate powerful discovery sessions using the Fearless Organization Scan in order to enable extraordinary collaboration, innovation and performance at a team and organization level.

Background to the Program

In 2016, Google completed the largest ever study on "how to build the perfect team". After tracking 15,000 employees over 5 years, the data was conclusive: psychological safety was the number one factor impacting team effectiveness. After this finding, the 25+ years of research by Professor Amy C. Edmondson of Harvard Business School gained prominence. In 2019, Amy published The Fearless Organization: Creating Psychological Safety in the Workplace for Learning, Innovation, and Growth and in 2019, the Fearless Organization Scan was born.

The Fearless Organization Scan uses Amy’s research to map how team members perceive the level of psychological safety within their closest community – benchmarking them against the best.

Breaking this down into four dimensions provides a critical predictor of how a team will learn and work together and facilitates opportunities to improve team performance

  1. Inclusion and diversity
  2. Attitude to risk and failure
  3. Willingness to help
  4. Open conversation

Since its inception in 2020 The Compassionate Leader has worked with the Fearless Organization Scan to accredit hundreds of practitioners around the world.

About the Program

The program consists of five facilitator-led group sessions (delivered via Zoom) that move well beyond concept and theory to powerful real world application through a blend of highly experiential activities, shared learning and reflection, case studies, and guided analysis and interpretation of scan results. This allows practitioners of different backgrounds to understand and integrate the Fearless Organization Scan into their current practice models.

The certification program consists of:

  • 4 live virtual workshops (11 hrs)
  • 2 one-to-one supervisions sessions (2 hrs)
  • 1 real facilitation engagement with a pilot team of your choice (approx. 6 hrs)

During the program you will learn to set up and scan a pilot team using the FOS portal and will have access to your own personal Fearless Organization Scan dashboard. Afterwards you will continue to have access to the portal and your own unique dashboard. You will also have access to an ever-growing community of FOS practitioners.

Attendance on this certification program also entitles you to a complimentary seat on 'The Leader's Toolkit' open workshop on a date of your choice.
